Humor: Kids say funniest things:3

I had started a Kids Talk series in early days of Happy Heart and Mind blog but did not get much chance to post occasional silly and funny story until now. R likes funny and silly stuff like many young kids and he actually quite funny on several occasions without trying that cracks us up. Humor is important part of life and much needed in our otherwise stressed life.

If you have your own kids or nieces and nephews you will know what I am talking about that kids can say cutest and funniest things and even if you do not have kids, I hope you can still appreciate kiddish humor in your life. Read on, hopefully it will make you chuckle a little.

—————————————————————————————————-

R loves animals and dinosaur as any 5 year old would. One time we were reading a dinosaur book that had very graphic pictures of T-Rex eating other animals. R asked questions and he seemed okay so I went to put little P for a nap in bed room while R played in the living room.

In 5 minutes he came to me and he says he is having a nightmares. I asked him how can he have nightmare during daytime? He thought for a minute and he says “Oh, I forgot, I mean I am having a morning-mare” πŸ™‚

——————————————————————————————————-
R loves Bridges, Buildings along with zillion other things and has interest in everything. One day during a vacation we saw a big bridge that opened up for boat while we waited to cross it. Zenguy explained to him and this is called draw bridge.

He listened and seemed concerned to me. So I asked him what is the matter? He said. “I am looking for my crayons to draw on the bridge”. I asked “Why he wanted to do that?”
R said “Because, Pappa said it is a draw bridge and I am looking for something to draw on the draw-bridge!” πŸ™‚

Do you have a silly story to share? I would love to hear from you. Humor can come in many sizes, it could be small chuckle, laugh or tummy-ache laughing spree.

Kids do say the funniest things, and their words are so precious. It’s the greatest joy to be a parent.

As a personal finance blogger, it probably wouldn’t be a surprise to know that the topic of money sometimes comes up by me, whether I realize it or not. My young daughter told me, after getting a little bit of money as a gift, that she wanted to save it and investigate it. I think she meant invest:) Then she said she wasn’t so sure, because she didn’t know what it means. Oh well. Much more important things for a kid that age to worry about than money!

    Hi Preeti,

Kids are amazing in how they see the world around, and what seems to be crazy for us sometimes, has a perfect logic for them. Congratulations to R; he seems to be very good at observing the world around and to make quick associations. Very smart kid!

What I can contribute is a story from my wife’s work:

One of my wife’s colleagues told her of something funny that happened when taking her 3 years old grand-kid to see Santa at the mall: While seating in Santa’s lap, Santa asked him: β€œWhat would you like for Christmas?”, and he answered: β€œWhat do you got?”

Thank you for the good laugh in this posts, and for reminding us all of how smart children are πŸ™‚

    Hi Preeti,

I have not seen your Kids Talk series before since I have not been on your blog for long. But I am glad to see you are bringing it back because I agree that humour is important and much needed in our lives. Kids are amazing and they do say the funniest things at times. I think there is a lot we can learn from children and I do enjoy watching them play. There is something about their youthful exuberance and innocence that we adults lack.

Haha, I like the draw bridge joke. It is so innocent! At least R is creative and that I feel should always be encouraged. I also enjoyed reading about stickers and the magic word “Abra ka Dabra.” We need children in our lives to remind us to see things with fresh and innocent eyes. We need children to remind us of how to be in each moment.

Thank you for sharing this article! You have reminded me of what is important and made my day! πŸ™‚

Oh! Too funny! I have two little girls, ages 4 and 7. My 7yo lost a tooth at school and brought it home in the tiniest purpl treasure chest. I said, “Awe, when I lost a tooth at school all I got was an envelope!” And she replied matter of factually, “Uh..That’s because that was in the olden days!”
My 4yo disappeared for a few minutes and was pretty quiet. I found her in my room with my red nail polish, covered head to toe! I said, “What are you doing?!” And she replied, with tears in her eyes as her lip quivered, “I paint my toes!”
I bought my 4yo butterfly wings for her bday. She put them on and flapped her arms, running around then stopped abruptly and started crying that broken-hearted sob. I said, “awe, baby, what’s the matter?” And she says, “Why can’t I fly?” Broke my heart. lol

    Ayo,

I am glad, kids everywhere are so amazing and can make us feel good in no time, don’t they? I am glad it made you smile. Hope you have a great weekend too.

    Vaishali,

Thank you, it is lovely to see you as always. Yes R is very creative and funny and loves to make up jokes, sometimes he is not even trying it and make us smile. I am glad you liked it, how is life with you?

  7. ZenGirl says:

    Jasmine,

Thank you for sharing these wonderful stories of your girls. I remember R was also disappointed when he knew he would not be able to fly, he really believed that only reason he could not fly as he was bit small. I remember his sad and disappointed face so I can very well imagine your 4 year old. Kids are amazing and sounds like you have 2 little amazing kids at hands.

  8. ZenGirl says:

    Besty,

I am happy to share it as we could all use some humor in our life and kids can do funny stuff without trying it. Glad you liked it.

  9. ZenGirl says:

    Irving,

I had done it a long time ago, even I almost forgot about it but R keeps doing funny stuff and I thought we could all use bit of humor once in a while. R is very creative and smart kid and of course I am biased πŸ™‚ but he is funny when he is not even trying to be one and I am happy for it as I tend to be serious one in life, Zenguy and kids have natural humor in them that keeps me balanced, otherwise I would be most serious person on earth! I love abra ka dabra of his joke.

Then once he said he will be better than Beethoven as he would be Beetho-two or Beetho-three as a musician. πŸ™‚

    Raul,

Kids sure have amazing take on life that is simple, optimistic and full of life, we as an adult (specially me) have forgotten it and we could all use the little chuckle or smile. I really love the story from your wife’ work, the kid is smart and optimistic πŸ™‚ I like that telling Santa “What do you got?”, smart and flexible kid! I hope he got what he wanted. Thank you for sharing it here.

    Squirrelers,

I like the story of younger daughter, she can sure investigate the money πŸ™‚ so cute. I guess she is learning a lot from you as a personal finance blogger, it is rubbing off on her πŸ™‚ Good for her. I sometimes wish I can be like child and not worry about silly things! πŸ™‚ Until then I am just happy to be part of child’s humor in my life, don’t you?

    Preeti,
Kids do say the funniest things! When my sister first had her children I was working and going to school. My eldest niece said, “You can’t be in school unless you’re living with your mommy and daddy.” She also couldn’t comprehend that my “mommy & daddy” were her grandparents. When I tried to explain she kept telling me I was “silly.” Now my niece is in graduate school herself. How fast time goes by!

  13. ZenGirl says:

    Angela,

Yes, kids are amazing. I love the story of your sister’s kids, they really are innocent and amazingly creative sometimes. I have my days when I am tired with 2 active boys but R and P both make me chuckle and laugh to keep me going for an extra hour or two. Time sure flies and kids grow up too fast too.
